Realtime WRF–NAM and WRF–GFS Members

The WRF-ARW (v3.8.1) is run twice daily, using the 00z and 12z NAM and GFS forecasts as initial and boundary conditions. The 36-km outer domain one-way nests down to 12- and 4-km inner domains. Model physics include:

  • Thompson microphysics parameterization
  • MYNN2.5 surface layer parameterization
  • MYNN2.5 boundary layer parameterization
  • Grell 3D cumulus parameterization
  • RRTMG shortwave radation
  • RRTMG longwave radiation

The NCEP 1/12th degree daily SST product is used as a static lower-boundary condition over the water.
